Mr. Marcell Da-Shawn Eugene Woodard, age 20 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at his residence.
A BRIEF LOOK AT THE LIFE OF MARCELL D. E. WOODARD
Marcell Da-Shawn Eugene Woodard was born on Thursday, October 10, 2002, to Maurice Woodard and De'Bora McNair and peacefully transitioned from his earthly home on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at his residence. Marcell resided in Sanford, NC with his great-grandparents Bro. Al and Annie Simpson.
Marcell received Christ at an early age and was baptized/christened by Rev. John McNeill at New Beginnings for Christ Church, Sanford, NC. During his life, Marcell also attended Spout Springs Presbyterian Church and Fair Promise AME Zion Church, lending his talents by playing the drums for the worship service.
Marcell began playing the guitar as an official member of the New View Allstars gospel group at just two years old and at the age of three, he was featured on the front cover of the Hometown News with his guitar. At the age of seven, Marcell joined the youth bowling league at Kendale Bowling Lanes and quickly flourished into a great bowler competing in many bowling competitions and achieving a high bowling score of 289.
Marcell graduated from Lee Senior High School, Lee County, NC in 2020 with aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur and developing his musical career. He loved hanging out and traveling with his family, friends, and cousins. Marcell was employed by Walmart of Apex, NC.
Although Marcell had no biological siblings, he shared a brotherly bond with his first cousin Jamarie Crawford and best friend Isaiah Gray. Marcell also had a group of special friends he held dear to his heart Alterique Murchison, David Zicent'e, Jamie Stakermann, Jaxon Watkins, Jeremiah McIver, Milton Kyle, Noah McEachin, and Unique Haines.
Marcell was preceded in death by his mother De'Bora McNair; grandfather Ernest Eugene McNair; great-grandfathers Calvin Hall, Stanley King, James T. McRae; uncle Bryan Woodard; and cousin De'Bora King.
Marcell was known for his infectious smile that would light up any room. Marcell's peaceful and loving spirit will be greatly missed by his loving father Maurice Woodard of Sanford; three grandparents Karen McRae Woodard of Sanford, NC, B. Marie King of Cameron, NC, James Woodard of Polkton, NC; four great-grandparents Bro. Al and Annie Simpson of Sanford, Margie Hall of Denver, CO, Constance McRae of Sanford, NC; two aunts Minister Stephanie (Elder William) West of Sanford, NC, Marquya (Jamel) Crawford of Sanford, NC; three uncles Ernest Rose of Queens, NY, Adrian (Jocelyn) Woodard of Newark, NJ, Ra'Shon King of Cameron, NC; eight first cousins Darlin Robinson of Oakhill, WV, Jonah Sierra, Adelyn and Astrid Woodard of Newark, NJ; Jamarie Crawford of Sanford, NC, Gabriel and Ryleigh West of Sanford, NC, Imani King of Cameron, NC; and a host of other extended relatives and many friends.
The family will be receiving family and friends Wednesday through Friday from 4pm - 7pm (Masks Required) at 215 Cricket Hearth Road, Sanford, NC, 27330.
