Marcella A. Erickson, age 92, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, died Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Our House Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Rev. John Swing will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI (please meet and assemble directly at the cemetery office).
Marcella was born March 16,1932 in Wisconsin Rapids to John and Vera (Piper) Zurfluh. She was the oldest daughter of 13 siblings and survived by her youngest sister Rhonda (Zurfluh) Chojnacki.
Marcie graduated from WI Rapids High School. Later she met and married her husband George Erickson on November 15, 1952, they were married for 33 years. George died in 1983. They moved to Milwaukee to start their life and family together and had two sons. Marcie was a stay at home mom until she started working at Briggs & Stratton Corporation as a machine operator. She retired after 32 years of service and moved back to the Nekoosa area, settling in Wisconsin Rapids to be closer to family and friends.
Marcie tremendously enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, playing board games and cards. She often took chartered bus trips with her sisters and friends to play bingo at various casinos in and around Wisconsin.
Marcella is survived by her sons: Dennis and Garry Erickson and their partners Mary and Laura, grandchildren: Jacob (Jolene) Erickson, Joshua (Jamie) Erickson, great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Jamison, Claire, Katelyn, Madeline and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera Zurfluh, her husband George Erickson and 11 brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Our House Assisted Living and Memory Care for all their exceptional care and support they had given mom throughout the years, it was greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Heartland Hospice for the comfort and compassion you showed mom in her last days.
The family will have a celebration of Life for Marcella to be announced at a later date.
