Marcella Gazolas, 88 of Vaughn, NM, passed away in Rio Rancho, NM on Monday, November 11, 2024. 

Marcella was born on May 13, 1936 in Vaughn, NM to Alejandro and Isabel Aragon. She was raised in Vaughn, where she attended school—graduating from Vaughn High School. On December 29, 1962, Marcella married Alex Gazolas in Albuquerque, NM.

Marcella was a devoted parishioner at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, where she was also a member of the choir. Active in her community, Marcella was a volunteer EMT for over 25 years, she was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, attended Vaughn Citizens Center as well as active in Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years. 

Marcella is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Alex and her siblings: Elias and Manuel Aragon, Maida Archibeque and Angie Reynolds.

Marcella is survived by her children: John Gazolas of Albuquerque, Joan (Norbert) Archibeque and Julie (Toby) Garcia, both of Rio Rancho and Janna (Philip) Smith of Centennial, Colorado, her grandchildren: Stephanie and Ryan Garcia, Corey and Nathan Archibeque, Ashland (Don) Lindsey, Colton (Kirstyn) Taylor, Luke Taylor and Shawn and Reina Gazolas, her great-grandchild: Madilyn Taylor and her siblings: Emma Oliver, Orlie Matthews, Joe Aragon, Confie Sanders, Dolores Sanchez, Leo Aragon and Alex Aragon, Jr.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, from 9-10AM.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be Saturday, November 16, 2024 beginning at 10AM at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. The service will be officiated by Father Timothy Meurer.

Marcella will be laid to rest in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, in Vaughn, with Corey Archibeque, Nathan Archibeque, Ryan Garcia, Colton Taylor, Luke Taylor and Shawn Gazolas serving as Pallbearers.

Services are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S. Third St., Santa Rosa, NM 88435. 575-472-3369.
