Marcella "Marcy" Jaramillo

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marcella Jaramillo (Marcy), July 23, 1957 - February 18, 2026, age 68, of Las Vegas, NM. Beloved mother and grandmother, she passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Born on July 23, 1957, to Antonio and Pauline Chavez, Marcella was known for her cheerful smile and personable nature. During every family visit, she gave her undivided attention to each of her children and grandchildren, making us all feel so loved and special to her. She will be truly missed, and we are grateful to have had her in our lives and for all the moments shared and the memories created.

Apart from her family, she graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 1976. Marcella earned her degree in Business Administration and Management from Luna Community College. She worked for the City of Las Vegas for over 13 years. She also worked for the State of NM Departments and enjoyed working for the Carnegie Library until retirement.

Marcella was passionate about reading and music. She spent her time with many hobbies, including competitive running, where she ran as a young woman in marathons in New York City and Boston, and later throughout life, competing throughout New Mexico. She was also a philatelist with an extensive collection, studying and researching postage stamps. She loved being out in nature, hiking, with her fondest memories of living out at the ranch.

Marcella is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Pauline Chavez; her brothers, Larry Montano and Eddie Chavez; her grandchild, Angel Stephen Garcia; and her godchild, Jeremy Marquez.

Marcella is survived by her children: Mario Jaramillo, Alysha Garcia (Stephen), Jared Jaramillo (Tanya), and Natasha Jaramillo (Marcos)-her 15 grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters, Gloria Montoya (Joe), Tony Chavez (Lorraine), Billy Chavez, Faye Martinez (Leroy), Rita Lyons, Abel Chavez (Veronica), and Dolores Garcia (Rudy). Many nieces and nephews. Beloved friends.

Friends and Family are invited to a rosary service at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 6 pm. A funeral mass will also be held at Our Lady of Sorrows on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 9:00 am. Pallbearers are William Cordova, Justin Garcia, Elias Cordova, Johnathan Garcia, Stephen Garcia, Marcos Cordova, and Cole Ryan Jaramillo.
