Marcella Kay Mayes

Marcella Kay Mayes, 81, of Duncan, OK, went to be with her Lord on March 1, 2026.

Marcella was born to Clifford and Lena Latham on October 30, 1944. A kindhearted woman, she would marry Clyde Mayes on January 30, 1975. Together, they brought their daughter, Amy, into the world, completing their family.

Marcella was a homemaker who was devoted to her family and church. She enjoyed watching TV and doing word search puzzles, as well as chatting with friends at the widow’s banquet each month. But nothing compared to her joy in being a grandmother.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lena; her loving husband, Clyde; and two sisters: Beverly Sue White and Mary Jane Sells.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Johnson and husband Clinton; sister Rita McGuire; sister-in-law Betty Mayes; sister-in-law Jo Mayes; her loving grandsons Nathan and Devin Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved with all her heart.

Marcella’s care has been entrusted to Carter-Smart Funeral Directors. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 6-8 pm. Services will be on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00 am at Eastside Church of Christ with Ron Stough officiating. Interment will follow at Bailey Cemetery in Bray at 1:30 pm.
