Marcelle Taylor Moore, 85, of Belvedere Commons, Seneca SC passed peacefully into her Heavenly home August 13th surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Newry, South Carolina, she was the youngest daughter of Campbell and Ruby Rice Watson. A 1957 graduate of Seneca High School, Marcelle married Robert Taylor of West Union and the Wolfstake community in 1958 where they ran a dairy farm. They were devoted partners for 40 years until his passing in 1998. Marcelle later married Robert Moore of Mountain Rest, and together they enjoyed their time living in their cabin on Crystal Lake until his passing. A gifted musician from a young age, Marcelle began playing the piano at age five and continued to share her love of music throughout her life, often singing and playing for others. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and nurturing grandmother. Professionally, she served as a substitute teacher at Keowee Elementary and worked as a kindergarten aide at Walhalla Elementary School. She was also a faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where she taught children's Sunday School and sang in the choir. Marcelle was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Watson, and her sisters, Velta Alexander and Carolyn Watson. She is survived by her family, son, Mark Taylor and daughter-in-law Sandra Vatsis Taylor of Dallas, TX, and her daughter, Anna Taylor Zelaya and son-in-law Edgar Zelaya of West Union, SC. Her beloved grandchildren include Zach Zelaya of Columbia, SC; George Taylor, Alexcia Taylor, and John Taylor of Dallas, TX. She was also blessed with one great-granddaughter, Maria Love Taylor of Dallas, TX. Marcelle took great pride in her grandchildren's achievements, often referring to them affectionately as her team of mascots: a South Carolina Gamecock (Zach), an SMU Mustang (George), a Baylor Bear (Alexcia), and a Texas Longhorn (John). She considered this legacy of education to be one of her life's greatest blessings. Marcelle was a strong and spirited presence in the lives of those who knew her-a force of nature marked by grace, humor, and deep faith. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Belvedere Commons of Seneca, SC, for their compassionate care and kindness. The family also extends their deepest thanks to the Rainey House in Anderson, SC for their love and compassion. A private memorial service will be held in October at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Church, P.O. Box 617, Walhalla, SC 29691.
