Marcelle (nee-Stamato) Shriver, of Stratford, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on February 16, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Survived by her loving husband Ronald Shriver; her children Jenni (Joe) Smith and Todd (Colleen) Shriver. Adoring Mom-Mom of Peyton.
Marcelle was born and raised in SW Philly then moved to Magnolia, NJ where she graduated from Sterling HS in 1966. Her and Ron crossed paths after he returned from Vietnam in 1968. Ron had a minor accident on the pike in Somerdale and Marcelle was driving by. She stopped to see if he needed help and the rest was history. They married in 1969, raised their children in Victory Lakes located in Williamstown, then bought their forever home in Stratford. She started working in the podiatry field and did so until her cancer diagnosis.
Marcelle played a huge role in her kids' lives. She was always the room mom and she never missed a game or cheerleading competition. She was always fundraising for their sports and even chaperoned a cheerleading competition to California with Jenni.
Marcelle became somewhat famous in 2006 for collecting cans of silly string for Todd and the troops in Iraq. What started out with a small basket of donations in her church turned into a nationwide campaign. A total of 80,000 cans were collected and sent overseas. This led to her becoming a part of The Military Support Group Of New Jersey, which supported active military with care packages that were sent overseas.
Marcelle's greatest loves were her sweet husband Ron, her kids Jenni & Todd, her favorite son in law Joe, Todd's girlfriend Colleen, & her one and only grandson Peyton whom she had a very special bond with. Their relationship was based not only on unconditional love but on constant teasing – mostly Peyton teasing her. She loved every second of it and would tell Peyton "Paybacks are a bitch."
Marcelle leaves behind a legacy of living life to the fullest. She loved to have a good time. Whether it was at the boat, at their friend's house, out to dinner, or on vacation. She was Jenni's concert partner – they even got the chance to meet Boy George not once but twice! She loved to garden, read, shop, work out at boot camp, and her 2 late rescue Scotties Ollie & Shelly.
We will always remember Marcelle's beautiful smile, bright blue eyes and contagious laugh, and love for life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Friday, February 25th 10:30am-12pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish – St. Luke Church, 55 Warwick Road, Stratford, NJ 08084. Funeral Mass 12pm. Burial following in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Raws Tait VFW Post 7334, 10 Kennedy Blvd, Somerdale, NJ 08083 or by check payable to the Military Support Group of New Jersey, c/o Zale Funeral Home, PO Box 223, Stratford, NJ 08084.

I was a co-worker that worked with Marcelle (Mama) I enjoyed the time that we spent at FHC. We laughed and joked about everything. Mama was a joy to be around, I enjoyed the stories of family and friends engagements that she shared. I loved Mama very much and will truly miss her. Rest in Peace
