Marcellus Dean Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ames Funeral Home, Inc. on Apr. 3, 2023.
Marcellus Thurmon Dean departed this life on March 25, 2023, in his home in Woodbridge, VA. Marcellus "Markie" was born January 1, 1959, to the late Rosa E. Dean and Charles M. Dean. He attended Douglas High School in Leesburg VA. He served in the United States Army from 1977-1984 and the Army National Guard from 1988-1990; then worked as a Technician for Verizon Telecommunications.
Markie had a passion for writing poetry and is a published author. Music and dancing were life for him and he cherished every jazz festival, every outing, and cookout he shared with his extended family. His love of fashion was evident from the stylish suits, shirts, fancy shoes to his high-end hats; and let's not forget the one of kind jewelry. He will always be known for his love of classic cars.
Markie is preceded in death by his mother Rosa Dean; father Charles Dean, and brother Aaron Dean. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter: Justus Dean; one brother: Gordon, three sisters: Deborah, Jocelyn, and Yolanda; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends who will love and miss him.
Acknowledgements
Our brother meant so much to so many of you. And we are all so blessed to have had him as part of our lives as a brother, a father, an uncle, a nephew, cousin and friend. He will be missed beyond measure.
Our family wishes to express our sincere appreciation and thanks to the many friends and loved ones for your kind and generous expressions of sympathy and love in our time of bereavement. Special thanks and much love to his "O Dark 30" family.
God bless each of you.
ASCENDANT
Journey so befitting, who better than me
Blessed was I for the changes, I now see
Often reminded that it wouldn't be easy
Grateful for the wind so soft and breezy
A constant feeling, as if I were guided
Never was I alone for what it provided
A descendant of royalty never denied
Will and commitment felt deep inside
For I'd climb the highest mountain top
To receive a love I know will never stop
Shaped and molded by the finest of hands
Realize, along the journey God commands
Mistakes were made and a price, I paid it
Those distance memory have now faded
Sought forgiveness, know I'm not perfect
Yet, He saw within and knew I'm worth it
I've yet to receive my wings and learn to fly
Thus, I keep the faith all I need to do is to try
Whatever the outcome I gave it my best
I'll be rewarded for enduring each test
What is given will allow me to survive
Day will come when I'm no longer alive
Until that day I shall live on one accord
To lose this special gift I cannot afford
I'll ascend high above beyond the clouds
Ascendant, I know that my God is proud
-Marcellus T. Dean
