With great sadness and a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved Marcelo Ruiz on January 27, 2025 at the age of 26. His fight began on October 25, 2024 and he fought hard right up to the very end of his life.
Marcelo was born on August 4, 1998 in Vallejo to parents Raul Ruiz and Davina Ruiz. He lived most of his life in (East) Vallejo, but attended schools in Benicia, where he graduated high school.
At a very early age, Marcelo showed his artistic abilities by his drawings and throughout his life used this special talent with whatever he did. Marcelo worked most of his life in construction, including cement, carpentry work, and landscaping. He designed his grandparents' backyard and was very proud of that because it turned out so beautiful. He also built a playhouse, doghouse, garden box and other things for his family. He tried being a mechanic at his dad's shop, but knew this wasn't for him and left his brother to fill that job.
Marcelo loved his family and friends deeply, and most of all Adilena (Mousie) and his two precious children, Audriana and Marciano. When he would play with them, he would do the silliest things just to make them laugh. He was a nature person and loved the outdoors; climbing rocks, fishing, camping, swimming in the lake, river, and oceans. He enjoyed it all, but most of all he loved to barbeque (no matter the weather), hang out with family & friends, listen to music and just loved having fun. His great smile will truly be missed by so many of us and as one of his teachers said back in grade school, "Marcelo has a handsome personality." We love you Marcelo. May you rest in peace.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Adilena; his children, Audriana and Marciano; his parents, Raul (Martina) Ruiz and Davina Ruiz; his brothers, Alan, Raul, Marcos, and Jayden; and his sisters, Cheyenne and Gabriela. He is also lovingly survived by his grandparents, Dave and Pat Mares, Raul and Raquel Ruiz, and his great-grandmother, Sarah Maestas, along with numerous aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your prayers, support, kind words, and the food you have shared with us during these past few months. Your kindness has meant so much during this very difficult time. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Central Valley Specialty Hospital in Modesto. Marcelo was in good hands with your caring and compassionate staff.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo. A reception celebrating his life will follow at the Moose Lodge in Vallejo.
