Marcia Head Sample

Marcia Head Sample has embarked on her final adventure to the Great Beyond. After a fifteen year journey as a Parkinson's patient, she got bored with it, and decided to do something else.
Marcia was born in New Orleans on February 19th, 1953, to George and Violet Jones Head, and moved to Shreveport in early childhood. From childhood she was fiercely independent and was, "Always getting stitches." In her adolescence she embraced the music and spirit of the 60's counterculture which led her to live across the country in places such as Vail, Aspen, and Nashville in the 1970's.
She was, almost annoyingly, excellent at anything she did. During her life she was a Stewardess for Braniff Airlines, a Housesitter for William Peter Blatty, a Juice bar manager in Nashville, a nationally leading cosmetic saleswoman, an award winning advertiser and photographer, a TV News Producer and Reporter with KTAL, and later in life, one awesome Yoga instructor. With Yoga, she found her true profession in bringing joy and healing to many, including at-risk Veterans. Though, she would convey to all that her true joy came from being a mother.
In 1982, she married Wade Sample, and soon after had sons Staunton and Wilton. She dedicated her life to "her two boys", and of course was really, really good at it. She taught life lessons through travel, early and often, and experiences that sometimes left other parents aghast. Marcia taught her sons to, "Question Authority", be kind and generous, look at the world through other's eyes, and find peace within.
Finally, Marcia was obsessed with storms and severe weather, and it is only fitting that her death was followed by Hurricane Beryl and sixty-seven tornadoes in the Shreveport area.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents George and Vicky Head. She is survived by her children, Staunton Sample, Wilton Sample (Aimee Coleman Sample), her grandson Wilton Sample (Ivy), her sisters Nancy Starks (Newell Starks) and Leslie Copeland, nephews Peter Svehla, George Copeland, Henry Copeland, and nieces Alexis Svehla and Catherine Copeland. The family is forever thankful to Gerry Damlouji and Renee Coleman for their kindness, care, and friendship to Marcia in her final days. A party to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
