Marcia Mae Sandborn of Portland died on July 16, 2025, at the age of 92. She married Richard (Dick) C. Sandborn on June 10, 1949, and they were married for 76 years. They spent winters in Florida and summers at their cottage at Crystal Lake. Marcia was employed at Tri Level Inn, Lears Supermarket in Portland, and Jones/Trier Jewelry store in Ionia. Her hobbies included baking, knitting, crocheting, and bowling and in 1992, she participated in the National Bowling Tournament in Lansing. Marcia often cared for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several foster children. She regularly prepared meals for family gatherings, with her favorite dishes such as macaroni and cheese, meatballs, meatloaf, hamburger or potato soup, 7-layer or potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and molasses cookies. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Portland. She was very devoted to attending weekly mass and even watched services on television when she was unable to attend in person.

She is survived by her husband Dick; sons Terrance and Dan; daughters Deborah (Scott) Little and Collen (Dave) Fischer; grandchildren Michael and Heather Little, Chad and Casey Fischer, Courtney and Gus Taylor, Alyssa and Doug Stemler, Matthew Sandborn; and great-grandchildren Grace and Nora Little, Niya and Khye Steidle, Emme and Owen Taylor, Ava, Audra, and Aria Stemler, brothers Ed Huver, Jack (Cheryl) Cahill, sisters Pat (Marve) Nyenhuis, DeeDee Bridgeman, in-laws Margo Huver, Gary Sandborn, Mike Jameson, Judy McCrumb, Betty Russell and Barb Sanborn, along with many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, her parents- in-law, brothers John (Rosie) Huver, Butch (DeWayne) Huver, sister Joan (Mike) Stearman, in-laws Jim Bridgeman, Rita Huver, Riley (Maxine) Sandborn, June (Bob) Higbee, Maxine (Paul) Volk, Howard (Mary) Sandborn, Louis (Mary) Sandborn, Joyce (Don) Lyons, Janet (Gerald) Gilbert, Kendall Sandborn, Al McCrumb, Bonnie Jameson and Tom Russell, as well as her special dogs; Koko Mae and Molly Jo Sandborn.

The family would like to thank the staff of Portland Assisted Living & Memory Care and Optimal Hospice and Lehman Funeral Home.

The funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with the visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church in memory of Marcia.
