Marcia Ann Triska, age 75, of
Elwood, IN passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at her residence following an extended illness. Marcia born on May 2nd, 1950, in
Elwood, Indiana, the daughter of Leon & Edna (Ward) Simmons.
Marcia became a mother at the age of fourteen, before she had the opportunity to fully grow up herself. She did not complete her schooling. After the birth of her third child, she recognized that she was not able to be a mother to her children in the way they needed. She chose a different direction for her life. She later had two more children. She lived her life according to what she believed was her path at the time. That path was not always an easy one, nor did it always lead to good outcomes. Her life included significant hardship, heartbreak, pain, and struggle.
In her later years, she made efforts to reconnect with her children and to repair relationships where possible. Some of her children were able to forgive her earlier than others.
Near the end of her life, her daughter Teresa became her caregiver. Her most stubborn daughter was able to forgive her only in the final hours before her passing.
Marcia, was known for her cherished hobbies of collecting antiques and St. Clair art glass. Marcia's bowling sessions at Wells Lanes were legendary, where her spirit of friendly competition and camaraderie shone through.
Marcia was a devoted member of the Solid Rock Church, where she was guided by Pastor Brad. Her faith was not merely a part of her life; it was the cornerstone of her existence. She held steadfast in her beliefs and lived her life in a way that reflected her deep commitment to her faith. It was through this devotion that she found strength, peace, and the ability to touch the lives of others in profound ways. Her faith was an inspiration to many and will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Marcia is survived by her loving daughters, Teresa Goodwin Jenkins and Tina (Stephen) Brown; her sons, Richard (Val) Goodwin and James (Merry) Goodwin, Jr.; brother, Leon (Benny) Simmons; and son-in-law, Dave Runyon; 21 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her life partner, Donald Rice, parents, Leon and Edna Simmons, and her daughter Zelenka Triska-Runyan; brother, Mike Simmons; sisters, Louise Logan, Sandra Rushing and Darlene Bouslog.
