Raymond J. Dowling Sr., 78, of Elwood, Indiana, passed away on the 14th of March, 2026. He was born on the 29th of July, 1947, in Elwood. Raymond was a proud and passionate locomotive engineer, having served with Conrail in Anderson, Indiana, until his retirement. He was a respected member of several distinguished organizations, including the Masonic Lodge #730 A&FM of Daleville, the Scottish Rite Lodge in Indianapolis, the Murat Temple in Indianapolis, the Eagles Lodge of Muncie, and the Moose Lodge of Muncie. In 1992, he was baptized at Daleville Christian Church, a community he held dear.

Raymond lived his life on his own terms, embracing joy and adventure. His dedication to his work, his love for his family, and his commitment to his community were the hallmarks of his life. Raymond was widowed, having been married on the 14th of February, 1980, to his late wife Janice Dowling.

Raymond is survived by his sons Raymond Dowling and Roscoe (wife Shatashia) Dowling; and his grandchildren Madison Dowling, Gavin Dowling, and Mason Dowling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hurbert and Lola Dowling; his siblings, Helen Anderson, Betty Ramsey, Bob Dowling; his sons, Richard and Rodney Dowling, and his beloved wife, Janice.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Raymond on Monday, the 16th of March, 2026, at 4:00pm EDT at the American Legion, located at 14708 West 6th Street, Daleville, Indiana, 47334.
