Bill Oldham Visitation at Dunnichay Funeral Home
Send FlowersAug 22, 1956 - Mar 17, 2026
William P. Oldham, affectionately known as "Bill" or "Froggy" to those who knew him best, passed away on March 17, 2026. Bill was born on August 22, 1956, in Harrisburg, PA. He was a beacon of generosity, loyalty, and wit throughout his 69 years of life. He was a supportive figure, building a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community. Bill was a devoted member of the Elwood community, where he made his home and raised his family. On September 2, 1977, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Oldham, and together they shared a lifetime of adventures and cherished memories. A dedicated and hardworking professional, Bill spent many years in Maintenance and Machine Repair across several manufacturing facilities, retiring from Spectrum Brands in 2021. Bill had a passion for staying active and often joked that life was made up of three seasons: fishing season, hunting season, and poker season. When he wasn't enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, he could be found tinkering around the house, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, or exploring flea markets with Cheryl, where he took great pride in his collection of antique bells. He was also a well-known and respected presence in Elwood's youth sports community. Over the course of 20 years, Bill dedicated his time to coaching young athletes, helping to shape both their skills and character. He played an instrumental role in building the new Little League field and was a founding member of the Pee-Wee Baseball League, leaving a lasting impact on generations of local families. Bill's love for family and friends was unparalleled. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Oldham; his sons, William (Gina) Oldham and Nicholas (Becky) Oldham; his grandchildren, Fisher, Jenna, Holton, Asher, and Maelynn Oldham; his sister, Doris Ann (Alan) Vargo, and his brother, David (Lawrence) Oldham. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Beverly (Stu) Bickel and Betsy Shipley, along with several nieces, nephews, and very special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wylie Oldham and Doris Dickinson; his step-father, John Dickinson; his brother, Tom Oldham, his in-laws, Cyrus and Mary Shipley; his sister-in-laws, Ardella Murrell and Mary Ash; and his brother-in-law, Cyrus "Bud" Shipley. Visitation will be held at Dunnichay Funeral Home, located at 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana, on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at the same location at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Siebel officiating.
