Marcus Humphrey was a remarkable man whose life was a testament to his faith, love, and selflessness. As a preacher, teacher, and mentor, Marcus touched countless lives with his wisdom, compassion, and dedication to spreading the message of Christ Jesus, of faith, hope, and love.
His work with children with disabilities at J. Iverson Riddle Center in Morganton NC, Genesis Home, Specialized Foster Care, and other children he opened his heart and home to helped rescue many lives. His commitment to opening his heart and home to his students and fellow staff members and educating young minds in Beaufort, SC, Charlotte, NC and Savannah, GA exemplified his deep-seated belief in making a positive difference in the world.
His missionary efforts in his community and around the US in the countries of Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, China, Romania, South Sudan, Israel, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal helped bring the Gospel of peace, healing, and hope of Jesus to many. Marcus's tireless efforts in fundraising, leading Bible studies, and guiding others in their spiritual journeys left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Marcus was a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul who lived by the principle of always extending a helping hand to those in need. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Despite facing the formidable challenge of stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Marcus fought bravely and with unwavering faith. His resilience, courage, and strength in the face of adversity are a testament to his remarkable character and unwavering spirit. His courage and optimism helped bring hope to many. Marcus's spirit, legacy, and the love he shared with the world will live on forever in the hearts of those who are privileged to know him.
Enjoy the place that Jesus has prepared for you dear Marcus! Know that your life is a shining example of love, compassion, and service to others. You will be deeply missed here on Earth and forever cherished in the memories of all whose lives you touched. We look forward to meeting you again when we arrive at the place Jesus has prepared for those who love Him.

Marcus is survived by his wife: Mary Fitzgerald Humphrey, children: Jessica Marie Humphrey, Marcus (Eli) Ellison Humphrey II (Jamie), Joshua David Humphrey, Isaac Joseph Humphrey, father: Benjamin Franklin Humphrey Jr., brothers Bennie Byron Humphrey Sr. ( Betty), Broderick Gardell Humphrey Sr. (Marie), grandchildren: Serenity Grace, Jeshua Emanuel, Justice Michael, Joya Mae, and Jorah Mielle, brothers and sisters in law Michael Fitzgerald, Paul Fitzgerald (Aina), William Fitzgerald (Marie), Edmond Fitzgerald (Sheila), Peter Fitzgerald(Vy), Mark Fitzgerald(Huynh Mai), Anne Suggs (Paul), Joseph Fitzgerald (Deane), Robert Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald along with a large tribe of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He deeply loves and is deeply loved by his family.
