Marcus Weisgerber Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 15, 2024.
Marcus A. Weisgerber Jr., 73, of Amityville, N.Y. died on Feb. 13, 2024 in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was born in Brooklyn and raised in Bethpage, N.Y.
Marcus enjoyed playing golf, working on classic cars, watching sports, and spending time with his family. Most recently, he found abundant joy in being a grandfather. He had witty sense of humor and a contagious laugh that could fill a room.
After graduating from Bethpage High School, Marcus enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving aboard the U.S.S. Newport, working in the ship's engine room. After being honorably discharged, he worked for the now-defunct National Airlines, before joining the Long Island Rail Road where he rose through the ranks retiring as deputy general manager of maintenance of equipment. He retired in 2004 and then worked as a consultant for decade.
Marcus is survived by his wife of 43 years, JoAnn Saladino, his son, Marcus Weisgerber of Alexandria, Va., daughter Erica Weisgerber of New York, N.Y., daughters in law Oriana Pawlyk and Ying Cheng, granddaughter Kalyna Weisgerber, grand dogs Brooklyn and Coco, sisters Elizabeth Ciulla of Cumming, Ga., and Rose Lewis of Fresno, Calif., brother James David Weisgerber of Oak Ridge, Tenn., sister-in-law Kathleen Saladino-Gross of Babylon, N.Y., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved very much.
Visitation will take place Monday and Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8. A funeral mass will be held St. Martin of Tours (Bethpage) Wednesday 11:15am. Interment to follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marcus was a great guy with a wonderful family. Marcus had a great sense of humor. Took a really nice trip to Disney World back in the 1980's with his family and my two boys. Always a good talk when we saw each other. Rest easy buddy.

Worked with Marc in the Diesel Shop and we all had such a great time back then. We laughed at our lunches and he was just a gentleman and had a wonderful spirit. Holding you in the light Marc. Sleep well, Railroader.
