Meredith M. Scimia, 59, of White Plains, died Monday, April 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Tony Scimia, daughter of the late Joseph A. McCaffrey and Barbara M. (Pesik) Laidlaw, terrific sister of Stacey McCaffrey, Matthew McCaffrey and Suzanne McCaffrey, and fun-loving and dedicated aunt of Dylan and Paige Fox, Abby and Maddy Ferri, Tatum and Eben Miller and Max and Joseph McCaffrey. Meredith also loved spending time with her in-laws Nicole, Val, Lorraine, Joanne, Frank, Neal, and Buzz.
Meredith was born in Patchogue, NY, on October 9, 1964 and graduated from Bethpage High School in 1982. She helped countless students navigate a college education through her work in Admissions at Westchester Community College for more than 25 years. She also provided essential administrative assistance and structure for her husband Tony as he started and grew his business, Anthony Michael Landscapes, over the last 35 years.
Meredith met the love of her life Tony at a family wedding, and the rest is history. They created a welcoming home in White Plains filled with warmth and laughter, where they hosted many family gatherings and memorable parties. Their home was highlighted by Meredith's culinary talents, generosity of spirit and love for their cats. She also enjoyed travel and exploring food and culture throughout the U.S. and abroad. We will dearly miss her laugh, her heart and how special she made everyone feel. "The laugh of a child, the heart of a champion, the soul of a mountain."
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Feeding Westchester, www.feedingwestchester.org.
