Maree Evans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel - Anchorage on Aug. 16, 2024.
Maree Ann Hendrickson Evans left this world for a better one on August 14, 2024, after a 20+ year battle with Parkinson's Disease. She died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loved ones. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend.
Maree was born April 15, 1943, in Denver, CO to Florence Marie Hendrickson (DeMoss) and Archibald Joseph Hendrickson. In December 1959 on a snowy night in Denver, she met Airmen 3rd Class Alfred "Ron" Ronnie Evans, and they married on October 10, 1960. Together they had 6 sons.
For many years she ran a home daycare, where she loved and was loved by all the children in her care. Maree and Ron were both avid bowlers and she was an active volunteer for youth bowling, Boy Scouts of America and Little League Baseball. She also had a great interest in genealogy, tracing back family history on both her and Ron's side.
Maree moved to Alaska in 1976, where she lived in Anchorage the remainder of her life. She also lived in Glasgow, MT; Reulbach, Germany; Sumter, SC; and Panama City, FL. She attended church at Salem Avenue Baptist in Sumter as well as Anchorage Baptist Temple and Baxter Road Bible Church.
She was preceded in death by both parents; son Kevin; brother Raymond Hendrickson; and sister Irene Atwood (Hendrickson). She is survived by her husband of 63 years Ron, son Kenneth and wife Lori; son Michael and wife Joan; son Ronald and wife Tammy; son Gregory and wife Jimy; and son Trevor and wife Krista, as well as 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren (and counting).
Memorial services will be held on August 24 at 3pm, preceded by a gathering at 1pm, at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, followed by burial at Midway Evangelical Presbyterian in New Zion, SC at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
