Margaret Bavin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williamson - White Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Amery on Dec. 31, 2025.
Peg (Margaret) Bavin, age 79, passed away on December 24, 2025 surrounded by her children at Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI. She was born in Slayton, MN in 1946 to Frank and Rose (Heitmann) Radermacher and grew up in the small-town of Hardwick, MN. She graduated from Luverne High School in Luverne, MN in 1965. After high school, she continued her education at Minnesota State University, Mankato and graduated in 1970.

Following graduation, Peg taught at Halverson Elementary School in Albert Lea, MN. While in Albert Lea, she met her husband Loren through a mutual acquaintance, and they were married on April 10, 1976. After welcoming their first child, they moved several times for Loren's job, eventually settling in Amery in 1980.

After the births of her youngest two children, Peg returned to teaching and taught Elementary Special Education in New Richmond, WI for many years. She was a lifelong learner and completed her master's degrees in teaching and education administration at UW – River Falls and UW – Superior while teaching at New Richmond. She left her teaching position in 1997 to become the Director of Special Education for the Somerset, Spring Valley, Elk Mound and Elmwood school districts. Peg retired in 2007 from her career in education.

Peg did not like to sit around idly and had many pursuits following retirement. She derived the most enjoyment from spending time with her family and lavishing attention on her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting new places, including visiting family in Wershofen Germany and many adventures to Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, Maine etc. with her husband, family and Ohio family. Peg was willing to take on responsibilities through volunteer positions to help serve her church and community. She was co-director of the Amery Area Food Pantry for many years and was the treasurer of the Pondhurst Town Home Association up until her passing. She had a large circle of close friends with whom she enjoyed playing Mahjong and Bridge and doing other social activities.

Peg will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness and welcoming demeanor. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by many. She was a caretaker at heart who always put family first and cherished her time with her four grandchildren.

Peg is survived by her children Brent (Emily), Travis, Nicole (Allen) Cotter; her grandchildren Brynn, Annie, Philip and Nora; and her siblings Sandy Kunkel, Fritz Radermacher and Karen Radermacher

She was preceded in death by her husband Loren, and parents Frank and Rose Radermacher.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Peg's friends, Adoray Home Health & Hospice and Golden Age Manor for their help and compassionate care during these final months.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to the Amery Area Food Pantry or a charity of your choice.

There will be a visitation for Peg on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Amery on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior.
