Margaret Bluestein Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Brunswick on Dec. 3, 2025.
Ann Bluestein, 85, of Darien, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at her
residence.
Ann was born May 27, 1940, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Paul Newton Mackey and
Maggie Fulton Mackey. After graduating from Dublin High School with the Class of
1958, she attended the Women's College of Georgia graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor
of Science in Business Administration. After college, she moved to Darien to teach in
the local schools. Ann taught math, typing, and shorthand at Darien High School and
Oglethorpe Christian Academy. In 1979, she retired from teaching to join her husband
at Bluestein's Supermarket. She loved her dog Maggie, working in her yard, and doing
outdoor landscaping and maintenance in Darien for the First Presbyterian Church, St.
Andrews Cemetery, and Vernon Square. She also greatly enjoyed sewing, antiquing,
and fishing.
Ann's accomplishments included helping start the Empty Stocking Fund and the
Blessing of the Fleet event in Darien when she was a member of the Jaycets. She was
appointed to the Tree Committee by the city of Darien to both survey oak trees and
plant new oak trees. She also cleaned up the Upper Mill Cemetery and got a grant to
build a new fence around the cemetery. In the early 2000's, Ann volunteered her time to
clean up all of the St. Andrews Cemetery lots that needed cleaning.
In addition, Ann helped start the Ashantilly Center and, yet again, volunteered to
maintain the landscaping at the Center. She was an elder at the First Presbyterian
Church of Darien-helping in many ways-which of course included keeping the
grounds in immaculate condition up to her high standards.
Her favorite saying was, "Wish I could wiggle my nose like Samantha and clean up the
world."
Ann is survived by her husband of 61 years, David Bluestein, their children, David
Bluestein, II (Denise) of Austin, TX, and Beth Rich (Walter) of Smyrna, Georgia,
grandchildren, Nathan Bluestein and Olivia Bluestein, nieces, Amy Moss (Jared), and
Joanna Parker (Doug) and a nephew, Jeffrey Moss (Amanda). In addition to her
parents, Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Moss.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers who have shown
their love and compassion to Ann over the years.
Services to celebrate Ann's life are pending at this time and will be announced by the
funeral home.
Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
