Obituary
Margaret (Peggy) Burton age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 16th while in the Comfort Care of Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas G. Burton, loving son, John G. Mooney, caring sister, Nancy Cleveland, mother, grandmother, aunts & uncles, brother & sister in laws.
She is survived by a loving & supporting family: Her daughter, Shari (Pat) Malloy, grandson, Mike (Lindsay) Johnson, granddaughter, Maggie Malloy, great grandchildren, Adalyn & Callan Johnson.
Her brother, Mike (Patty) Creasap, nieces & nephew, Bridget (Jody) Ellis, Michelle (EJ) Maynard, Michael (Katie) Creasap.
Her caring nieces Linda (Dennis) Hash, Teri (Jim) Flaherty, Jenny Plummer (Burton), and many more nieces and nephews stretching across 4 generations.
A special "Thank You" to Jan Gerst for all the many cards you've sent to mom over the years, she had looked forward to each and every one of them.
Peggy was born February 25, 1941. She was the strength and light of her family, being the oldest of 3, she naturally took charge.
She was a strong woman who knew what she wanted, set in her ways and spoke her mind. She was an absolute joy to be around, especially when she got her way.
She had a strong sense of humor and a wonderful laugh that would just make you smile every time you heard it. So, I guess we all kind of spoiled her because we loved seeing her happy. She loved with her whole heart and her family was the most important thing in her life.
She loved making holidays special and she loved giving gifts at Christmas time, always going overboard,
She didn't believe in worrying about money, she just figured everything will work out one way or another, like it's all part of God's plan.
She was always pretty much in charge because she was stubborn and persistent.
And may God forgive me for saying this, but I think she may have been in charge of Him too... Because she made up her mind in the hospital that she wasn't going to live like this anymore, living in and out of the hospital. She did not want to die, but she said that it was time to go and that she loved us so very very much and that she would be watching over us.
I don't see how with all of us missing the hell out of her, she would be able to go any place but Heaven.
So I truly believe she is watching over us!
May peace be with you and may your pain be gone.
Thank you for "holding on" for us and for "letting go" when you needn't to.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 South High Street. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
