Randall Yoakum

Randall "Randy" C. Yoakum age 76 lost his battle with cancer at The James Cancer Hospital with family by his side on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents Cash and Delores Yoakum. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Yoakum, daughters Jessica (Dennis) Sullivan and Stephanie Yoakum, stepson Gregory (Iris) Gudenkauf, brother Terry (Karolyn) Yoakum, grandchildren Austin Sullivan, Daniella Sullivan, Ilana Gudenkauf, Kai Gudenkauf, and several nieces and nephews. Randy also had a unique friend group that lasted from middle school to present day that he cherished through the years.

Randy was a graduate of Eastmoor High School, class of 1967. He was awarded a full ride scholarship to South Carolina as a quarterback where he played in the 1969 Peach Bowl. He graduated with a Bachelor's in history in 1971. He retired from UPS after many years of dedicated service as a package car driver.

Randy was a lover of all sports, and especially loved the Buckeyes, Browns, 49ers, and Braves. He was active in playing softball for many years until it started messing up his golf swing. He was a talented golfer and spent his retirement years on the links at Westchester Golf Course where he and Marilyn were members. Randy loved to read non-fiction books, complete "expert" crossword puzzles and spent many evenings watching Jeopardy testing his knowledge against the contestants. Randy loved traveling back to South Carolina to play golf and reunite with his Gamecock teammates.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Egan Ryan Funeral Home at 403 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215 from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Randy's name to the James Cancer Hospital for Esophageal cancer or a charity of your choice.
