It is with heavy, broken hearts that we share the passing of our son, Phillip (Phil) Leonard Baker. Phil was born August 28, 1988, in Columbus, Ohio and died in Columbus on October18, 2025, at the age of 37, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Phil is survived by his father, Leonard (Pamela) Baker, III; mother, Lora (Lynn) Giese; sisters,Morgan Baker, Heather (LeaAnn) Costlow, Stephanie (Justin) Van Sickle and Kristen (Zach)Sparshott, Hannah and Katalin Giese; brothers, Owen (Alyssa) Baker and Brandon (Jennifer)Costlow. He is also survived by Christina Tacket and his son Ethan, as well as nephews Jordan and Dante, nieces Pearl, Cora and Lilly, his Aunt Amy Baker, Uncles Cameron(Loretta) and Shannon Kelley, and many cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Pearl Baker, Leonard and Donna Baker (Junior), Brenda Spencer and his Uncle Mark Baker.

Phillip graduated from Grove City High School in 2006 and attended Bowling Green State University. He spent four years as a medic in the US Army, as part of the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, New York and was a member of the Army Reserves. Phil has spent the past three years working as a boiler technician for Boiler Tech, Inc, in Worthington, Ohio. He was very happy to have finally found a career with a company that he loved.

As a young child, Phillip had a smile and a question for everyone! He loved to talk and was very inquisitive. He was bright, charming and personable. He was very, very loved. As a young man, he was a skilled piano player and athlete. He loved baseball and basketball in his youth and really enjoyed watching his son, Ethan, follow him in those sports.

We really can’t talk about Phil without mentioning his sense of humor, quick wit, sarcastic comebacks, and caring heart. Phil cared immensely for his family, coworkers, and those fortunate enough to call him friend. He was an organ donor and many people benefited from his donations.

His hobbies included fishing, 3D printing, computers, ATVing, playing with his dogs, and woodworking. Phil especially enjoyed making unique items out of wood, following in the steps of his paternal grandfathers and father. He had a skill and a love for creating pieces for his family. Phil was always curious, inquisitive, and a lifelong learner. In his free time, Phil preferred to hang out with friends and family over just about anything else.

Because “hanging out” was a special pleasure of his, we invite you to a Celebration of Phil’s Life. We will be gathering to remember Phil and share stories, comfort, laughter and food on November 1, 2025 from 2-5 p.m. at the Grove City Masonic Lodge, 3558 Park Street, Grove City, OH 43123. Please join us as we celebrate Phil’s legacy and say goodbye for now.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to help continue Phil’s legacy of unconditional love and support for his son.

Donations can be given at the Celebration of Life service, via PayPal using the below QR Code (or go to https://paypal.me/pambaker in your browser), or mailed payable to Pamela Baker, 10144 Ocqueoc Lake Rd, Ocqueoc, MI 49759.
