Margaret Lee (Midge) Cox of Aracoma passed from this life on Friday, October 17, 2025 at CAMC General Hospital. Midge was born at Monaville WV on January 18, 1931 and was not expected to survive due to her very small size. Much to the amazement and joy of all she did survive and eventually thrived.

Midge was the daughter of Elbert S. Cox and Recie Snow Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Elbert S. Cox Jr., and William J. Cox and his wife Ruth, sisters Betty J. Maynard and her husband Stanford, Peggy McKinney and her husband Allen, nephews Byron Cox and Gerald (Jerry) Barr, and nieces Marilyn Chichi (Cox) Ghiz and Elizabeth Susan (Barr) Wells. She is survived by nieces Rebecca S. Ferguson and her husband Tom of Fort Worth TX, Patricia D. Maynard of West Logan WV, Janie (Barr) Monroe of Phoenix AZ, Vicki Barr also of Phoenix AZ, numerous great nephews and great nieces, two great great nieces, and one great great nephew.

Midge retired from C&P Telephone Co. several years ago where she began work as an operator when she was a teenager. She continued with the telephone company as an operator and in several supervisory positions in multiple locations until her ultimate retirement. As a life-long Christian, Midge was a member of the West Logan Church of God for many years and a member of the Whitman Creek Church of God at the time of her death. She served in a number of positions in both churches, teaching Sunday School classes, editing the Good Tidings publication and was member of the Happy Seniors and Lady Ministries.

Midge also served her community in several organizations. She was a past president of the Women’s Club of Logan, volunteer with the Logan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary where she served as Treasurer, and a member of the Garden Club of Logan.

Midge was devoted to her church, her family and her friends. She loved decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas. She seemed to never miss a birthday or family celebration. She loved entertaining family members from out of town with a special meal and a beautiful table setting. She also enjoyed following and watching sports, especially her favoriteteams, the Cincinnati Reds, Marshall University Thundering Herd, and the West Virginia University Mountaineers.

Loved and respected by all who knew her, Midge was greatly assisted by her niece Patricia Maynard and many of her other friends in her later years. All who knew Midge will sorely miss her kindness and generosity.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday, October 24, 2025 with Pastors Doug Bigley annd Roger Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.
