Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory - Leesburg on Nov. 24, 2025.
Margaret Elizabeth Campbell Davison was a descendant of two Florida Pioneer families. The Hay family from Hillsborough County and the Barbers of Orange County. She was born in her aunt's home in Kissimmee Florida to William and Myrtle Barber Campbell Margaret spent most of her younger life in Miami. She attended Central Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ as her Savior. Margaret graduated from Miami High and attended University of Miami. She married William "Ed" Davison in 1955, and they added three children to the family.
They moved to Leesburg in 1964 where she became very active in her community. She worked at Leesburg Family Medicine, Leesburg General and Lake Community Hospitals, first as a lab tech and later as an LPN. She even did a stint selling boots and jeans at Smith's Western Wear. Later she and Ed opened Leesburg Paper Sales.
In addition to her employment, she was active in several organizations. Margaret was Worthy Matron of Leesburg Order of the Eastern Star. She was President the following organizations/clubs: Ocala Social Order of Beauceant, Orlando Scottish Rite Women's Club, Leesburg Women's GFWC Club, Bertha Hereford Chapter of DAR, and Chaplain of Timucua Chapter of Colonial Dames. Margaret was also a member of Leesburg Junior Women's Club, Amaranth, DESA, and Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also proud to have been able to serve as a Deacon at Leesburg First Presbyterian Church.
As a child Margaret moved to several areas during the Depression and often told stories of her adventures in these various places and the landladies who spent time with her. During World War II her father was in the Coast Guard. They lived in Melbourne, and she had many adventures during this time. As a child she would spend the summers with her aunts and cousins in Kissimmee. Margaret and her cousins would drive around Kissimmee to see everyone, get ice cream, and go to the movies. Later she moved to Miami where she met her lifelong friends Betty Rae and Russell Nichols. It was Betty Rae who introduced her to Ed. When the family moved to Leesburg in 1964 Margaret wanted to learn the area. Many times, we would be in the car, and she would say "let's see where this road takes us". She was avid reader and one of the first places she took her children was Leesburg Public Library which is now Venetian Place. She also enjoyed doing needle point and tried her hand at knitting. Cooking was not her thing, but she would bake cakes for refreshments at OES. Later in life she became interested in genealogy, researching her ancestors of Georgia, Florida and Scotland.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 61 years William "Ed" Davison, parents William "Bill" and Myrtle Campbell and her brother William Campbell Jr.
