Margaret A. Delaney

Niantic - Margaret A. Delaney, 83, of Niantic, passed away peacefully Jan. 6, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 1, 1942, in New London, and was the beloved daughter of the late Edmund J. and Rita M. (O'Connor) Abbiati.

Margaret was a graduate of St. Bernard High School in Montville, and devoted her working years to Southern New England Telephone. She was well known for her reliability, dedication and strong work ethic.

Margaret shared over 50 years of marriage with her late husband, John, and will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, as well as a warm and loving presence to all who knew her. Her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering care for her family left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She is survived by her four children: Michael, John and his wife Joann, Kathleen and her husband Eric, and Kevin and his wife Jennifer; and her five cherished grandchildren, who will miss her deeply and forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at St. Agnes Church, Haigh Avenue, Niantic. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Jefferson Avenue, New London.
