Margaret DeVito

Margaret (Peggy) DeVito, age 77, of Jackson, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in her home
on September 22nd, 2024. She was born on September 17th in Newark, NJ, to Richard and Rita
Cusick, and raised in East Orange, NJ. Peggy was a 1965 graduate of Clifford J. Scott High School. In high school is where she met her partner and eventual husband, Donald DeVito. They were married in 1969 and had three children together: Michael, Deborah, and Tracy. They relocated to Colts Neck in the same year, where Peggy spent the better part of 20 years prioritizing raising her children alongside Donald. A dedicated mother and wife first, Peggy and Donald also co-owned two small businesses together, General Rental Party Supply and Wall Muffler and Tire.
Peggy lived her life to the absolute fullest by enjoying the simple pleasures: cooking meals for
her loved ones for any and all occasions, spending time with and attending all sorts of activities
for her grandchildren, making ceramics, pottery and other crafts, swimming at the YMCA, trying
new restaurants (especially diners), reading books, spending time with her long list of girlfriends,
and finding new shows to watch. Peggy was known for her kindness and generosity, her home
always a welcoming place overflowing with warmth and laughter. Peggy's ability to light up a
room and provide comfort to those fortunate enough to know her will be sorely missed but
treasured forever.
She is predeceased by her mother, Rita, and father, Richard. She is survived by her husband and
partner of 55 years, Donald DeVito; her brother, Richard Cusick; her three children and their
spouses: Michael and Leigh, Deborah and Tim, and Tracy and James; and her eight
grandchildren: Emma, Evan, Riley, Tanner, Lilia, Jared, Devaney, and Trey.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday September 26, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. The funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday September 27, 2024, at the funeral home.
