Margaret Ann Diggs, 64 of Madison Heights, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Elbert Hughes and Mary Jane Diggs Higginbotham.
Throughout her life, Margaret made a profound and positive impact on the Lynchburg City community, dedicating over 20 years to her career at the Lynchburg Detention Home. She was known for her unwavering commitment and the compassion she showed to those she worked with, fostering an environment where kindness was paramount.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Margaret would attest to her kind and compassionate spirit. She brought a smile that spread positive energy wherever she went, brightening the days of both friends and family alike. She was a true friend to many, but her best friend was Mary Johnson.
Margaret is survived by her children, Tiffany Diggs and Denzel Diggs; grandchildren, Jaymik Rose, Jahzai Irving, Jayon Rose, Jazaihya Diggs, Skye Diggs, and Aaron Braxton; siblings, Dorothy Giles (Wayne), Mary Diggs, William Higginbotham, James Higginbotham, Virginia Higginbotham, Michelle Parker, Cynthia Jones, Lois Cashwell, Diane Hughes, Patricia Morgan, Jennifer Mayhan, and Cynthia Turner; aunts, Josephine Nappier and Alice Diggs, and host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Foxx and Shelia Hughes, brothers, Elbert Hughes, Richard Hughes.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her niece and nurse Toynetta.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Francisco Mayo officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
