Margaret C. Dougherty

Margaret C. Dougherty passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Wilmington, DE June 29, 1928 to Patrick and Mary Cullen. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, James J Dougherty; her daughters, Mary and Elizabeth Ann; her brothers, Peter Cullen, Joseph Cullen and Thomas Cullen; and her sisters, Dorothy Looney and Marie Feely.
Margaret is survived by her children, Kathleen McKee and her husband, Michael McKee, James J. Dougherty III and Patrick Dougherty; grandchildren, Michael McKee Jr, Meghan Hamm and her husband, Andrew Hamm, Sean McKee, James J Dougherty IV and his fiancé, Jenny Mason, Patrick Dougherty, Ceara Dougherty, Cullen Dougherty and Conor Dougherty; great-grandchildren Caitlin, Brandon, Kane, Meredith, Gabriel, Amelia, Saylor and Rose Catherine.
Margaret will be remembered for her remarkable memory and her love and devotion to her family. Her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews appreciated their time with their mom-mom, Aunt Margaret and Aunt Margie. Margaret enjoyed watching her grandchildren participating in various sporting events; parties; and weddings.
In recent years, she became a serious Philadelphia Phillies fan; never missing a game. She was tech savvy at the age of 96, often using google to view social information about the players, and using facetime on her iPad for her regular calls with her grandson, Cullen.
A devoted Catholic and parishioner for over 60 years at Corpus Christi; Margaret's faith provided her the strength during life's most difficult times, and now her faith provided her the trust in God to lead her back to Jim in heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at Corpus Christi Church, 905 New Road, Wilmington, DE 19805, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
