Margaret Hyler Eanes

Margaret Hyler Eanes, 83, of Ruffin, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025.

She was born to the late William Henry and Roxanne Scarce Hyler and raised by her stepmother, Frances Keatts Hyler, whom she lovingly referred to as "Mama". She graduated from Ruffin High School in 1961 and went on to be a woman of many talents. She worked various jobs, but she considered motherhood, which she entered into in 1963, when she gave birth to her daughter, Michelle Lyn Smith her most important crowning accomplishment.

Known to most as 'Nana', she was a woman of simple pleasures, a voracious reader and quiltmaker; she enjoyed gardening and redecorating her home several times a year. She enjoyed living in the country, being surrounded by nature, and never mastered the art of sitting down to rest for very long. At 83, she remained vivacious and full of spirit!

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Hansel Wayne Eanes, and a child known only unto the Lord.

She is survived by her sister Verona Hyler Eanes, her brother Hassell Hyler (Diane), both of Eden, NC; two sons, Kevin Hundley, of Eden, NC, Gary Hundley (Hope), of the home; a step-daughter, Leisa Edwards, of Eden, NC; ten grandchildren, of which Grace Ann Hundley, of the home, served as her primary caregiver until the last moment of her life. Also surviving her are many great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

In respect of her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Margaret to your local public library.
