Margaret M "Peg" Emmart

Margaret (Peg) Merriner Emmart, 93, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Hidden Springs Senior Living.
Peg was born in Winchester, VA the daughter of the late James H. Merriner, Sr. and Katharine B. Merriner. She graduated from Handley High School in 1949 and Winchester Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse in 1952 where she formed lifelong friendships. She put her nursing skills to use working in local schools, a pediatrician's office and retiring from the Winchester Frederick County Health Department.
Peg enjoyed reading, baking (not to be confused with cooking), watching sports (especially baseball), trips to the beach and spending time with her family.
She was the beloved mother of James C. (Susan) Emmart, Katharine E. (Richard) Melby, Timothy W. (Kelly Ann) Emmart and Callie E. (Lynn) Gray. She was the loving grandmother of Elizabeth (Pat) Klosterman, Justin Melby, Cameron (Morgan) Emmart, Katie Melby and Wyatt (Katy) Starks and five great grandchildren; Kenzel, Hayes, Elouise, Brigid and Teddy. She is survived by all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as her brother, John V. (Nancy) Merriner, and sister, Hallie M. (Ronald) Place, niece and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Peg is preceded in death by her brother, James H. Merriner, Jr. and his wife, Sue D. Merriner.
