Margaret Evelyn "Peggy" Fahrney, 89, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. Born April 15, 1935, in Maugansville, Md; she was the daughter of the late, Silas Deloss Wolfensberger, Sr. and Agnes Pearl (Mundey) Wolfensberger. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by five siblings, James Wolfensberger, Darce Brown, Charles “Pete” Wolfensberger, Silas D. Wolfensberger, Jr., and Betty (Jitter) Moore and a son-in-law, Pete Carey. Mrs. Fahrney was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who always put family first. She was a passionate Baltimore Orioles fan, avid duckpin bowler and loved traveling to her son’s baseball games. She was a tireless homemaker who passed down her talents to her daughters. She enjoyed cooking for her large family, especially during holidays and special events. She was a former member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Hagerstown. Mrs. Fahrney is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, William T. Fahrney; five children, Gary W. Fahrney and wife Teri of Palm Harbor Fla., Jody L. Fahrney of Hagerstown, Ricky L. "Rick" Fahrney and wife Anna of Hagerstown, Sherry D. Carey of Hagerstown and Tommy W. "Tom" Fahrney and wife Peggy of Amissville, Va.; four grandchildren, Scott W. Fahrney, Lauren N. Fahrney, Ashlee R. Copeland and Victoria R. Fahrney; three great grandchildren, Emeri R. Fahrney, Amira R. Copeland and Phoenix R. Latkovski. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Robert T. Clipp officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday one hour prior to the service.
