Michael Fahrney, the stalwart head of the Fahrney family, father of Robert Fahrney and Michael Fahrney Jr. and husband to Jennifer Fahrney, passed away in his sleep on February 20, 2025, in Layton, Utah. He was born on August 12, 1964, in Bakersfield, California, to Bob and Mary Fahrney.
Michael led a life of being rough and tough with a good heart. He grew up in Bakersfield riding bareback horses and was always known as a wild young man. He worked hard in the oil industry and eventually became a co-founder of a company called TechWest Services. Everything Michael touched, he did with grit and determination that was impossible to ignore. While some may have seen him as stubborn, others recognized the drive and determination behind his words and actions. He leaves a legacy of hard work, strength, and a willingness to sacrifice himself for his obligations.
Outside of his professional life, Michael was a lover of wildlife. He became an expert in the husbandry of reptiles, particularly ball pythons, and left behind a thriving reptile business, Magnitude Morphs. His curiosity about wildlife never ceased, and that knowledge is being carried on by his children.
Michael’s life wasn’t always easy, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way. He was always a fighter, and being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 58 was unexpected but not something he ran away from. He lived on for over two tough years, accomplishing the things he wanted to do. He will be dearly missed by many, and with heavy hearts, we say our farewells, looking forward to meeting him wherever he is now.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nikil Moodabagil for his tremendous care during Mr. Fahrney’s last years.
A future ash spreading ceremony is being conducted by the family. Any flowers will be sent to the family and accepted with gratitude.
