Margaret Irene Gullion

Kingsport, TN- Margaret Irene Gullion, 84, passed away on December 3, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born and raised in Big Stone Gap, VA, she had lived in Kingsport, TN for over 62 Years. She worked at Mike's Town and Tweed in Big Stone Gap for several years and was a substitute teacher for Sullivan County Public Schools for 17 Years. She was a lifetime member of the Optimisses Club in Lynn Garden. She was nominated for "women of the year" by the Kiwanis Club. She coached t-ball, softball and basketball, supporting the area youth. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma, sister and aunt. Irene was the matriarch for the entire family, once her mother had passed. Irene was the life of the party when her family and friends were together. She was a longtime member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church in Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Margaret (Johnson) Rogers; siblings, Donnie Rogers and Roy Rogers.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Larry Gullion; children, Robby Gullion (Tonya Gregg) of Kingsport, TN and Melissa Horner of Kingsport, TN.; siblings Billy Rogers (Donna) of Big Stone Gap, Leonard Rogers of Big Stone Gap, Janice Mohn of Kingsport, Brenda Hall (Gene) of Kingsport, Cindy Watkins of Big Stone Gap, and David Rogers (Kathy) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Samantha Arnault (Aidan), Abagail Gullion, Alex Horner, and Sarah Beth Horner; great granddaughter, Ruthie Faye Horner and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 4:00pm Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Lynn Garden Baptist Church, 301 May Ave., Kingsport, Tn.
The family will also receive friends on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Pastor Rick Meade officiating.
Burial will follow at Glencoe Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA.
