Margaret "Peggy" Helm

Margaret "Peggy" (Van Gorden) Helm, 67, of Stuart, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2024.
Born and raised in Greenwich, CT., Peggy was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. Years later, she moved to Florida to be close to family.
While in Florida Peggy worked to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. She spent her working career in hospitality but found her true calling in caring for the disabled.
After a tragic accident left her paralyzed, Peggy founded her own support group for spinal cord and traumatic brain injury patients, demonstrating remarkable dedication to volunteering and numerous other charities.
Her compassion extended to her love of animals, particularly dachshunds and cats, and she took great pleasure in gardening, cooking, and enjoying life near the water. Peggy's strong faith and inner joy touched everyone who met her, and her love and compassion for others left a profound impact.
She is survived by her loving family, including her brothers Don (Mirna), Ed (Kathy), Tom (Ronni), Gerry (Linda), Rick (Karen), and her sister Mary Lou (Bill) Klage, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald J. Van Gorden and Mary (Chute) Van Gorden.
A memorial service to celebrate Peggy's life will be Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 11:00 - 1pm with services starting at 12:30 pm at Forest Hill's Funeral Home Chapel 2001 SW Murphy Rd. Palm City, FL
