Margaret (Marge) Holzweiss Obituary
Margaret (Wall) Holzweiss died peacefully, surrounded by her children, on November 10, 2023 at the age of 82. Margaret "Marge" was born in White Plains, New York, the daughter of the late Anton and Paula Wall. In April of 1966, she married the love of her life, Tom, who predeceased her in November, 2022. Together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. After their marriage, Tom and Marge resided in Hartsdale, New York where they started their family. In 1974, they moved to Peekskill, New York to raise their family. They resided there until retiring to Chesterfield, Virginia in 2009.
Marge went to Westchester Community College to study bookkeeping and secretarial skills. Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary in a Westchester County office until the birth of her first child. Marge then enjoyed the role of stay at home mother until after her second child was born. While raising two children, she began to work part time at Grime's Travel Agency in White Plains, New York. Once both of her children were of school age, she accepted a full time position at a local automotive service station in Peekskill as a bookkeeper for over twenty-five years.
Marge was well known in Peekskill for her position at the station. Maybe it was her smile, maybe it was her warm nature or her ability to listen and make conversation that made her memorable to all the customers. Many people would happily sit and make small talk while they waited for their service to be complete. Marge left a lasting impression on anyone who stepped in the office. In addition to her personality, Marge was extremely organized and kept not only the shop records to the penny, but her home finances too. She was the "glue" of her job and her family and seemed to juggle both with ease.
Marge was the type of person who would go above and beyond to help anyone. She volunteered as a Cub Scout leader for her son's troop, a bingo worker, a gym mother and volunteered in many capacities in her church to name just a few. She was patient and kind, and would give you the shirt off her back, literally. Marge found the most satisfaction being with her family, but also enjoyed spending time talking and visiting with friends. Marge would never turn down a game of Scrabble or a card game especially with her grandchildren. She had a strong faith in God and shared that faith with her children. That faith gave her strength and perseverance in the face of adversity and served as a guide for how to live.
Marge is survived by her son, Robert (Peggy) Holzweiss and her daughter, Debbie (Karl) Outman. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Jakob, Kayla, Zachary and Nicholas of which she was especially proud. Marge is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Marge was also predeceased by her only brother, Alfred
