Margaret Johnson Jameson, 86, of Abbeville, SC, wife of the late Coach Robert B. ‘Red’ Jameson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC. She was born in Covington, VA to the late Murrell E. Johnson, Sr. and Frieda Doris Martin Johnson.
Margaret began her career in teaching at Iva Elementary School for one year, followed by six impactful years at Greenville Street Elementary School. Most notably, she spent 27 years at Wright Middle School where she and the late Mrs. Sallie McMillan chaperoned the 8th grade Washington trip every year. Her passion for teaching and her ability to inspire her students left a lasting mark on the community. Margaret was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church and the Cheryl Camp Ladies Circle. She shared her musical talents as a member of the Handbell Choir and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society. She will be remembered for her commitment to her students and her love for her family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Robert Jameson and her brother, Fred Johnson.
Margaret is survived by her son, David Warren Jameson (Melanie) of Anderson, SC; her daughter, Linda Jameson Wilber (Chuck) of Chapin, SC; brother, Murrell ‘Tuffy’ Johnson, Jr. (Melinda) of Covington, VA; seven grandchildren, Charlie Wilber (Tyler), Peyton Wilber (BethAnn), Allison Wilber, Maggie Jameson, Haley Jameson, Dawn Tyre (Mac), and Leslie Werts (Jeff); six great-grandchildren, Annabella, Autumn, Mia, Callie, Savannah and Lilah Tate; a sister-in-law, Pat Johnson of Covington, VA; and numerous extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 22, 2025 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 1:00PM in the Abbeville First Baptist Church Sanctuary. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Margaret, may be sent to Abbeville First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, PO Box 825, Abbeville, SC 29620.
