Margaret Ann "Markie" Kinney

October 9, 1937 – November 12, 2025

Margaret Ann "Markie" Kinney, 88, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, passed away on November 12, 2025. She was born October 9, 1937, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the youngest of six children to Lloyd and Alfreida Coffman. Markie was preceded in death by her parents and all five of her siblings.

A true daughter of the Oklahoma soil, Markie grew up on the family farm in Shattuck. After graduating high school, she met the love of her life, Don Kinney, at a dance in Arnett-the 1950s version of swiping right. The sparks flew, and on July 16, 1958, they married. They built a beautiful life together that lasted 67 years, until her passing.

Markie and Don were blessed with two children, Cynthia Dawn Kinney and Timothy Mark Kinney. Their daughter Cindy was taken far too soon, but she remained forever in her mother's heart and is now reunited with her in eternity.

Farming was Markie's calling. In 1975 the couple purchased a farm near Nelagoney, Oklahoma, where they lived and worked the land for more than 35 years. While Don worked a full-time job off the farm, Markie kept everything running at home-tending crops, livestock, and family with the steady strength and quiet grace that everyone who knew her admired. Later in life, they retired from farming and made their home in Skiatook, where for the past 25 years they welcomed neighbors and friends who quickly became like extended family.

Markie is survived by her devoted husband Don; her son Mark Kinney of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandson Kyle Kinney of Portland, Oregon; and two great-grandchildren, Leo and Arellia, who brought her endless joy.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook. Stumpff Funeral Home Skiatook is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests simply remembering Markie with a kind thought, a shared story, or a moment of gratitude for the strong, loving women who hold families and farms together.
