Margaret Claire (Gilson) Logan was born on August 26, 1924 to Edward Solon Gilson and Mildred Claire (Williams) Gilson in Cleveland, Ohio. Peg, as she was known by her many friends and family, lived a vibrant, active life and died on March 20, 2025.
She married Patrick Arnold Logan on January 18, 1947. Their inspirational story of love and devotion began through letter writing when Pat was stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II and Peg was in nurse's training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago as part of the US Cadet Nurse Corps.
Peg completed nursing school through St. Luke's School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio in 1946. After retiring as a nurse, she stayed active in the community through volunteer work, including 27 years at the Red Cross and St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio.
Peg's sharp memory and quick wit were strong until the end. Her memory was unparalleled. In fact, just six months before she died, she sang the entire fight song from Charles Brush High School, the school she graduated from in 1942.
Through all the ups and downs of life, Peg maintained a hopeful, optimistic attitude. She always had a word of encouragement and cheer for others. As she often said, "This too shall pass." She weathered the challenges of life with grace, held up by her strong faith. She cherished her community at Perrysburg First Church and rarely missed a Sunday service.
She was also surrounded by many special friends who filled her life with joy. One of her favorite ways to pass the time was visiting with friends on her front porch.
She is survived by her four children: Tim (Chick) Logan, Barb (Dave) Sanford, Terry (Nora) Logan, and Mike Logan; ten grandchildren: Miki, Troy, Chris, Ryan, Fran, Dana, Rebecca, Matt, Melissa, and Mike; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece, Kathy Joy, and three nephews, David, Brian, and Mark (Kris), as well as many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Logan; parents; brother, Ted Gilson; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Gilson.
The family would like to acknowledge her neighbor and friend, Tiffany Kowalski, who was always there for her, and the M&M team from Care 360 Hospice. Michelle and Meredith were an absolute blessing to her, and we are eternally grateful for their care, compassion, and kindness. It made a world of difference for her in her final days.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Perrysburg First Church, 200 W. Second St., Perrysburg. Funeral Service will begin at 11:30 A.M. with burial to follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to Care 360 Hospice or Perrysburg First Church.
