Margaret ‘Margie’ Saeger, 80, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, under the care of her family and Compassus Hospice.
Margie was born August 31, 1944, in Merrill, daughter of Richard and Margaret (Weitor) Nissen. Margie graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1962. On May 9, 1964, she married Michael Saeger at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. With Mike working at Consolidated Papers, she moved to Wisconsin Rapids in 1964. Margie worked at the Wisconsin Rapids Public Library and then took a position with the Wisconsin Rapids school system as a secretary. After retiring in 1997, Margie and Mike moved full-time to their Lake Pesobic home in Merrill. During her retirement years, Margie worked first seasonally at Badger Evergreen and then as a long time substitute special ed aid for Merrill Area Public Schools.
Margie was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. She enjoyed traveling and spending winters at their home in Englewood, Florida. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved taking care of her family. A favorite pastime of Margie’s was making baby quilts for family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Saeger; daughters, Michelle (Todd) Henrichs, Maureen (Dennis) Krueger, and Meredith (Bob) Dehnel; grandchildren, Matthew Bell, Michael Bell, Caitlyn (Josh) Heller, Claire Zimmerman (Daniel Patton), Allison (Dakota) Ress, and Ashley Prebeg (Fiancé’ Josh Meyer); great grandchildren, Jensen Heller, Jasper Heller, Lincoln Ress, and Paisley Ress; brother-in-law, Jim (Jacky) Saeger; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margaret Nissen.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 2:30 P.M., Monday, June 23, 2025, at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation – 301 Eagle Dr., Merrill. Father Mariadas ‘Maria’ Vallabhaneni will preside. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 23, 2025, at the funeral home.
