Margaret Elizabeth (Brown) McGregor-Dillon, affectionately known by friends and family as Betty, entered into the presence of the Lord on February 2, 2026, at the age of 98 in
Mishawaka, Indiana. Born on May 17, 1927 in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late George W. Brown and Pearl (Lance) Brown. She was the youngest of 14 children. Betty's life was marked by her vibrant spirit, a love for her friends and family but most importantly, a love for the Lord.
Graduating from Central High School in
Chattanooga, TN, in the class of 1945, Betty's journey was not just one of personal growth but also of enduring love. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Roy McGregor, on February 10, 1946, in their hometown of Chattanooga. Charlie & Betty raised their 4 children in
South Bend, IN until Charlie's passing in 1983. Love found Betty once more, and in 1987 she married John W. Dillon and shared a wonderful life with him in Hendersonville, North Carolina until his passing in 2013.
Betty's legacy will be carried on by her family, including her daughters, Susan Wolfe, Janice McGregor, Kathryn (Howard) Haines, and Carol (Larry) Stratton and stepson David (Teresa) Dillon. She was a proud grandmother to Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Sawaya, Angelique (Ray) Burniston, Elissa Sawaya, Diab McGregor-Sara, Neema Kwangu, Mackenzie (Tyler) Thornton, Kaleb (Caroline) Haines, Leah Haines, Lydia Haines, Audra (Luke) Spradley, and Blake (Alaina) Stratton. She was also a great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren.
After moving from South Bend in 1983, she traveled with the Billy Graham Association helping to set up evangelistic meetings around the country and in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Betty served Christ for years through her involvement with the Graham Association and also was able to fulfill her love of travel by exploring the world. She traveled to diverse destinations, where she embraced different cultures and traditions. These experiences broadened her horizons and she loved sharing her stories of her adventures with others.
Betty knew how to create a welcoming environment in her home for all her friends. She had a gift for making every guest feel at home. Whether she was hosting a simple dinner or a large party. In her later years, Betty cherished her friendships at Applewood Pointe in
Minnetonka, MN where she resided for eight years before moving to
Mishawaka, IN in 2024.
The family would like to thank Paradigm Health for their loving assistance in Betty's final weeks. A private burial will take place on March 6 at Southlawn Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel will be assisting the family with final arrangements.
