On October 30, 2025, Margaret Janell Moore, 85, of Moss Hill, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her daughters, who held her hands as she journeyed home. Born on June 9, 1940, in Palestine, Texas, Margaret was the fifth of ten children born to Johnie and Zula Mae Lock. She resided in the Hardin–Moss Hill area, where she created a home filled with infinite love, laughter, the smell of cooking and fresh coffee brewing. Margaret found happiness in life's simple pleasures-shopping for treasures, casting a fishing line, crabbing along the coast, or savoring a hot cup of coffee while enjoying her favorite TV shows. But her greatest joy came from cooking and spending time with her beloved family. She cherished every moment shared with her brothers, sisters, and extended family, filling their gatherings with laughter and heartfelt connection. Eight of her siblings preceded her in death, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is joyfully reunited with them.
Margaret will forever be remembered for her kind heart, strong spirit, and unwavering devotion to family. Her legacy of love continues through her daughters, Melissa Luter and husband Scott, and Amanda Sumrall, both of Hardin–Moss Hill, who will carry her memory forward with grace and strength. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Joel Luter and wife Josie of Fort Collins, CO; Cortney Minnehan and husband Josh of Sulphur, LA; Logan Sumrall and
wife Amanda of Kingwood; Brandon Sumrall and wife Avery of Old River–Winfree; Jaxon Luter and wife Shelby of Bay City; and Jakob Luter of Austin. She delighted in her five beautiful great-granddaughters-Samantha, Skylar, Amelia, Scarlet, and Thea-as well as her dear brother Sammie Lock and wife Shannon of Texarkana, and many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Margaret Moore will be held at a later date in the Moss Hill area, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and celebrate a life well lived. Though she may be gone from our sight, her love, laughter, and quick wit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her
