Obituary
Guest Book
Margaret "Peg" Weems Harriss, 76 of Tucker, Georgia, passed suddenly Sunday, March 2, 2025 from complications related to her lifelong struggles with diabetes. Peg was born on Saturday, December 11, 1948 in Canton, MS to Bob Weems and Alice Seifke Weems. Over the years, Peg resided in Canton, MS, London, England and Atlanta, GA. Academic excellence was Peg's focus and after being named valedictorian of her Canton, MS high school class, Peg continued her academic studies earning degrees in Mathematics from both Millsaps College (BA) and Jackson State University (Master of Science). She married Hayden "Scott" Harriss, grew their family, taught middle-school math and later pursued a career in computer science. Peg is survived by her former husband, Scott Harriss, children, Liz, and Scotty, and grandchildren, and was predeceased by her parents, her brother Tony, and her son, Chris.
Peg was a brilliant mind who could see the world like no one else could. A formidable opponent in bridge, she published papers in mathematics and sent logic puzzles in the mail to her grand-kids. Family and friends were the most important thing to her, often calling her parents, brother, kids and friends multiple times a day. She loved her kids and grand-kids fervently and delivered girl scout cookies to them each year as an Easter present. She took care of her son, Scotty, with true devotion and she made THE best Rotel-Velveeta cheese dip with Fritos.
A celebration of Peg's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 14, 2025 at St. Bede's Episcopal Church, 2601 Henderson Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30345. Interment and a reception will immediately follow.
