Norfolk, VA – Margaret Ann "Peggy" Reagan (nee McCarthy), 87, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, after a brief stay in hospice care. She was born on June 8, 1938, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to the late Donnell Dixon MacCarthy and Margaret Eugenia Hightower.

Peggy was preceded in death by her older sister, Katharine Emily (MacCarthy) Evans. Katharine, who was first married to David W. Champney, is survived by her sister's sons, Mark Champney and Duncan Champney.

Peggy was a 1956 pro merito graduate of Pittsfield High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, in 1960. She later earned a Master of Arts degree in psychiatric-mental health nursing from the University of Washington in Seattle.

Peggy served in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps, where she worked as a community nurse specialist and mental health nurse consultant. Her nursing experience also included geriatrics and public health. She later served as an instructor of nursing at Kennesaw Junior College (now Kennesaw State University) in Kennesaw, Georgia, during the 1970s.

Peggy was married three times, first to Robert Carter Hayden, with whom she helped raise his daughters, Karen (Hayden) Morton and Sharon (Hayden) Lindberg. She later married George Albert Beylouny, and she was a loving stepmother to George Beylouny and Joanne (Beylouny) Schleier. She married Charles "Chuck" Cecil Reagan, who had a son named John Reagan. All three of her husbands, Robert, George, and Chuck, predeceased her.

She is survived by her children, Karen Morton (and her husband, Frank,) of Oregon, Sharon Lindberg (and her husband, Scott) of Washington State, George Beylouny (and his wife, Gemma) of Georgia, and Joanne Schleier (and her husband, Chris) of Georgia. Peggy's four children had children, including Taj Hurxthal Morton and Kit MacCarthy Morton, Mark David Turley and Kelby Charles Hawthorne, Melissa Beylouny and Nicole (Beylouny) Sokolowski (and her husband, James, their children, (Lydia and Leah), Kera (Henderson) Porter (and her husband, Robert), Kelly Schleier, Christopher Schleier (and his wife, Nancy), Allison (Schleier) da Silva (and her husband, Philipe, their children, Naima, Danica, Adina, and Adrian), and David Schleier.

Peggy had a passion for creating watercolors of flora and fauna, often sharing her handmade cards and bookmarks with loved ones. She loved nature, birds, and critters of all kinds. Her wild sense of humor and love for practical jokes and pranks made her a joy to be around, especially with children. Peggy also had a rebellious nature, proudly citing her Irish heritage, and she was known for her independence. For all these endearing qualities, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private memorial service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Peggy's memory to a charity of your choice.
