Margaret Schwingel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jul. 15, 2024.
Margaret Ann Schwingel, more affectionately known as Peggy, age 91, of Saline, Michigan went on to be with the Lord, Friday, July 12, 2024, with her husband of almost 69 years, her son and all her grandchildren by her side. Peggy was born September 25, 1932, to the late Erwin E. Wise and Edith L. (Neu) Wise on the family farm on Lent Hill in Cohocton, NY. On her birthday in 1955, she married Richard A. Schwingel who survives her. Peggy is survived by her only child, William (Martha) Schwingel of Saline; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Kadee) Schwingel of Peachtree City, GA, Anna (Brandon) Booker of Adrian, MI, Zachary Schwingel of St. Paul, MN, and Elaine (Elliott) Nichols of Atlanta, GA; 4 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Noah, Petyon and Caiden Schwingel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Donald (Beverly) Wise, Gerald Wise, DeMerle (Kaye) Wise and Robert Wise. In her early years, Peggy worked at many places throughout the Cohocton/Wayland, NY area including delivering milk for her Dad's Dairy, at the clothing store in downtown Wayland owned by her aunt and in Doc Barton, MD's local office. After her marriage, she worked at multiple funeral homes around the Rush/Lima/Livonia, NY area. But her passion was in being a stay-at-home mom raising her son, working in the garden, canning vegetables, and sewing endless clothing and quilts for family and friends, and most recently spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the Rush United Methodist Church. In February 2016, after 50 years in their Rush, NY home and in their late 80's, Dick and Peggy moved to Saline, Michigan to be closer to their son and grandchildren and where she continued many of her passions.
Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 16, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bridgewater. A private family service will take place at a later time. Burial will be held in the North Loon Lake Cemetery in Wayland, NY at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Memorial Contributions in her name can be made to the Rush United Methodist Church, 6200 Rush Lima Rd, Rush, NY 14543.
