Margaret Marie Davis Scott, 83, a resident of Las Cruces, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Margaret Marie Davis (Scott) was born in North Hollywood, California. She graduated from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California. In 1961 she met and married Henry Lee Scott and they had their first daughter Carrie Lee.

In 1962, together, they packed up and drove their young family north on the Alaska Highway and became pioneers in a remote area of the Last Frontier. In 1963, their second daughter, Julie Ann was born. Together they built a homestead and lived from the land. Many adventures followed including hunting, fishing, fur trapping and travels throughout the state of Alaska.

In 2009, after 48 years of marriage, she lost the love of her life. Margaret then settled in New York State near her oldest daughter and enjoyed many local events as well as traveling around the world with her favorite niece Cheryl.

In 2015, she moved back to the desert life she enjoyed and settled in Silver City, New Mexico. Here she busied herself with volunteer work until her health prevented it.

Lastly, in 2025 she moved to Las Cruces to an independent living facility where she loved the activities provided, puzzles and fellowship with other residents.

She is survived by her daughter Carrie Boyd (John); daughter Julie Williamson (Thumper); grandson Corbie Sullivan (Melissa); great grandchildren Haylee and Landon Sullivan; sister Elizabeth Baker; sister Fran Grady; niece Cheryl Custodero; nephew John Grady (Martha).

She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Lee Scott; mother Bessie Mellgren; step-sister Rhonda Eagle; father Frank Davis; brother-in-law Bob Baker; nephew Chuck Baker; brother-in-law Terry Grady.

She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 1:00pm at Memory Lane Cemetery. Cremation has taken place with Terrazas Crematory. In lieu of flowers donations in Margaret Scotts name can be sent to End of the Road Horse Rescue Ranch, at 1248 Mountain View Road, Silver City, New Mexico. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels, Trusted care for the ones you love ~ 575-537-0777~.
