Margaret Mae Shelhamer passed away Thursday, May 25th, 2023, at the age of 84.
Margaret was born to T.E. Logan and Fern Irene Logan on May 21, 1939, in Livingston, Montana. She attended Clyde Park High School and after graduating, attended Cosmetology School in Billings, Montana.
Margaret married Vic Shelhamer on May 15, 1961. They raised four children: Mitch, Rodney, Lori, and Staci. They were married just a few months short of 58 years when Vic passed away on January 21, 2019.
Margaret loved having a house full of people to fuss over. She was a champion at throwing together a meal at a moments notice for anyone that showed up. She was in her element when her house was full of family. She and Vic both had many "adopted" children that thought of them as second parents or a home away from home. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, gardening, sharing her recipes, and listening to old Elvis songs. More than anything, she loved when a new baby was born into the family. Many hours were spent holding and loving on the babies. In her last few years, she would call her kids in the evenings just to make sure her "chickens were all on the roost". Family was the absolute most important thing to her.
She is survived by: sister, Barbara Doty (Ken Myrstol); brother, Tom (Jane) Logan; son, Mitch (Suzi) Shelhamer; daughter, Lori (Jeff) Hughes; daughter Staci (Wes) Stafford. Grandchildren: Jessie (Jason) Blaydes, Lacey (Justin) LeBlanc, Jenna Schneider, James Shelhamer, Trista (Michael) Longshore, Kolter Hughes, Logan Stafford, and Jordan Stafford. Great-grandchildren: Matthias Schneider, Asa Schneider, Joshua Blaydes, Julia Blaydes, Sheila LeBlanc, Brinley Longshore, and Jackson Longshore.
Margaret was preceded in death by: Husband, Vic Shelhamer; Father, T.E. Logan; Mother, Fern Logan; and Son, Rod Shelhamer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Shields Valley United Methodist Church in Clyde Park, MT. A funeral service will follow at the church at 2:00 p.m. Internment will follow at the Wilsall Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Senior Center in Wilsall.
