A Memorial Mass for Peg Shelhamer, age 82, of O'Neill will be 10:30 am Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill. Inurnment will follow in the O'Neill Cemetery. Fr. Ross Burkhalter will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday, May 1, 2025 with a 7:00 pm Parish Rosary at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Peg passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to her family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
Margaret Anne Shelhamer, better known as Peg, was born on August 10, 1942 to Frank and Irene (Moler) Sullivan in O'Neill, Nebraska. She grew up in O'Neill, attending St. Mary's Academy and graduating with the class of 1960.
After high school, Peg moved to Omaha for a short time before returning to O'Neill and working for ASCS. She then worked at First National Bank. Peg met Richard Shelhamer and the couple married on June 15, 1963 in O'Neill. She was the owner of Shelhamer Petroleum and Fox's Food Plaza and Taco Johns. She retired in the mid 1990's.
She was a member of the Investment Club and an active member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Peg enjoyed going to the river and spending time at the cabin, reading, and watching tv. She enjoyed interacting with her customers at the store and all of her friends, but most importantly she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities.
Peg is survived by her daughters, Carrie Hahlbeck of O'Neill, Laurie (Greg) Hansen of Amelia; three grandchildren, Brian Hahlbeck, Jason Hahlbeck, Nicholas Hansen; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Shelhamer; several nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Cali.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard in 2025 and her sister at birth.
