Margaret M. Smith

Margaret Ellen McCosker Smith, 78, passed away at her home surrounded by friends and family on January 18, 2026.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 10 AM until a funeral mass at 12 PM. Father P.J. Curley will officiate and burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marge was born on November 14, 1947, in McComb, MS, to Peggy and Bernard McCosker. For 22 years, she and her husband, Petey, owned and operated Smith Electronics - Radio Shack. Following that, she joined the team at Stat Care, which became her "other" family until her retirement.

Marge was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a Lifetime Member of the McComb Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Petey Smith.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Megan and Charlie Street of Sumrall, MS, and Lindsay and Phillip Carter of McComb, MS; six grandchildren, Molly Duncan, Courtney (Connor) Travis, Riley Carter, Brody Carter, Eli Street, and Holly Street; and two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Ellie Travis, two sisters and brother-in-law, Fran Holloway and Erin and Alan Diefendorf

Pallbearers: Phillip Carter, Charlie Street, Riley Carter, Brody Carter, Connor Travis, and Andrew Diefendorf

Honorary Pallbearers: The McComb High Class of '65, Mike Faust, Bill Voss, Tom Ott, Sammy Clark, Alan Diefendorf, Joel Smith, Jr., Kyle Murrell, and Landon Ratliff.
