Margaret G. Soderborg, 94, of Watervliet died Friday, December 29, 2023, at her home.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 6, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township with Rev. James Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday at the Fairplain Chapel. Memorials may be made to Animal Aid or Paws of Hope. Margaret was born on January 6, 1929, in East St. Louis, IL to George and Margaret Overby. She was a private caregiver in nursing and was retired. Margaret married her first husband, Benjamin J. Allen, Sr., and then married, her second husband, Paul (Koneff) Martin, Sr. Both preceded her in death. Her third husband was Paul Soderborg and together they had 25 years of marriage before his death in 2017. Margaret enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers and loved animals, especially cats. She was an unselfish individual who was very loving and caring.
Her family includes her children, Dr. Otis Allen, Sr. of Bloomington, IL, Larry Allen of College Station,TX,
Steven Allen of College Station, TX, David Allen of Watervliet, John Koneff of Stow, OH and Michael Koneff of Coloma; her 2 sisters, Linda Clayton of Edwardsville, IL and Carolyn Korte of Edwardsville, IL, 7 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Benjamin Allen, Jr. and Martin Allen, a daughter, Mary Allen, 2 sisters, Sarah and Pricilla and a brother, Prentiss.
